What to Do During a Lock down or Holiday

An interesting question I faced lock down time from friends and neighbors and would like to share here. As a dynamic person always there by doing some or other activity, how you are spending your time during the lock down? Yes, as I don’t like sitting in home full time, I found few ideas to spend my time during a lock-down.

This is even applicable to do during a long summer holiday as  well as a good time pass on doing things that you are interested in.

“How do you spend time at home and what to do during a lock down?”

“A familiar question to you also, right? ”

However, it has lots of meaning. Yes, sitting at home for a long time especially a full day without  any activity  is really boring.

Due to the lock down or a long summer holiday, it is difficult to roam outside too.

“How to overcome this situation?”

Here is what I am doing to engage myself everyday in my home and that may give an insight to you too to find your own methods and possible activities to make yourself engaged.

I have experienced involving into few interested activities  from home and  help to spend our time constructively. Such activities will  make us engaged throughout the day.

Below are the activities I am doing in home during the coronavirus lock-down period.

Yes, in the second day of the lock down, I was a bit bored. I thought, how long I could watch the TV or sit by playing cards with kids at Home? This is for a limited time.

So, I thought to do something special and that would help me to spend my whole day constructively.

First,  Focus on Job

Currently, we all having the flexibility to work from home. This is a good option to engage self. It is good during the lock down but, if you are in a long summer holiday, it will not work.

With my 9 hour long shift, I do not have to think about anything because of a lots of regular meetings and other activities to complete each day.

With my work, I  spend a minimum of seven hours every day and thus no need to think about that hours, because I am completely engaged in that hours.

Whenever I get free time during the work, I have lots of other things to do.

Below were my regular daily activities during the lock-down period.

Investing Activities

In my previous article, “Investing lessons from the pandemic“, I have clearly mentioned the methods and actions one can take to invest in the stock market during the lock-down time.

As an investor, I still do not getting enough time to do necessary research about the superior stocks that are currently available in a cheap price.

“Investment” is one of my passions for a long time, I am interested to do the same whenever right time approaches. This is helping me to utilize my time at home because of the huge homework required before making any decision for each investment.

“Of course”, if you ask, yes, I have utilized my time constructively to find and added a few best stocks to my portfolio.

Follow the Passion

Everyone has his/her own passion, creativity and skill. I have identified my writing skill bit late, still cannot say it is too late, but most of the people not have given enough attention to identify and pursue their true passion or skill.

Explore the options to pursue your passion and engage from home.

My passion is to writing and blogging.

As I have informed in one of my previous articles, “Exploring the Power of Emergency Fund and Financial Planning – A Case Study“, this blog initially named as investinternals. com when started on 2007 and later discontinued all the activities for a long time.

So, I decided to bring this blog back with a beautiful new name as “The Corporate Investor Blog“.

“Do you think bringing up an old blog, especially the one currently does not have even a single subscriber and reader, and promoting it is a simple task?”

“Of course not”! It required months of efforts on re-structure and popularize. Though, I have a passion towards blogging and writing, I thought “why should I spend my valuable time unnecessary for unproductive activities such as sleeping and watching TV?”

Also, as I have written in a previous post that, I am engaged with writing an Adventurous Fiction Series for Children and others. I have completed the main manuscript for the first series during the time I was unemployed.

I later started with the copyright activities and started working to structure the novel by reducing the original 26 episodes to 8 beautiful episodes but without losing its beauty and charm.

“Do you think copy writing activity is an easy job?”

“Nope”, and not at all possible. Each A4 size pages need to write following by read and re-read several times. In case of any change or correction anywhere in a page, the entire A4 size needs to be re-written as fresh. It is a time taking process and needs dedication and time.

Go With a Hobby

As mentioned above, there are people with unidentified skills/creativity gifted to them by birth, but not tried to explore or identified that.

However, when comes to a hobby, we can find every one should have one or more hobbies.

Hobbies such as travelling and trekking will not work during lock down.

My hobby is reading and especially the books and biographies of great investors. I have a collection of such books and reading the same at least one hour every day.

Above mentioned activities and my regular job will eat almost all the day time, I then getting only in the night time to read and before going to bed.

This is how I am engaging myself at home with coronavirus lock down time.

Do you think the above mentioned activities are not enough to engage a whole day?” Whatever it is, I am not getting time and busy than before coronavirus lock down!

Pursue happiness through doing right things. Bible says “Idle hands are the devil’s workshop”

So, enjoy lock down time!
